Sea Urchin - locally known as "Maratangtang". This thorny seafood is popular aphrodisiac and a favorite delicacy among the Ilocanos. Balaoan is known for this industry especially on Barangay Paraoir. We have already experienced going to the cages in the deep waters and came to saw that they eat Aragan, a seaweed which is abundant in the area.

Daing (dried Fish) - daing is very abundant in Sto. Tomas La Union particularly Barangay Damortis. Stalls selling daing are aligned as you pass by the highway at Damortis. Variety of daing is sold on the stalls. You can find dried espada, bangus, pusit, sapsap, dalag-baybay and many others on each of the stalls. Prices vary from stall to stall. Remember to ask for discounts if you are going to buy in bulk.

 

Pottery- Beautiful pots are on display as you pass by in Barangay Taboc, San Juan, La Union. Lots of practice and dedication of Taboc villagers made their potteries known for its beauty. As of today, many of the folks have their potteries already exported and displayed in trade fairs.

Soft Brooms- local folks in Municipalities of Bagulin and Burgos are known for their quality softbrooms. Many of the brooms are actually sold in Baguio City which is the summer capital of the Philippines. These soft brooms are made from Tiger grass which is abundant in the area.

Diru- Diru is actually honeybee. Diru industry is now becoming one of the source income in Bacnotan La Union. Diru which is made by honeybees is packed at DMMMSU Bacnotan.

Basi- Basi is the native Ilocano wine. It is made from sugar cane extract. Usually they let it ferment for sometime to have a stronger taste. Bangar and Naguilian are known for this product.

Pebble Stones- Picking colorful pebble stones is an alternative way of livelihood in Luna, La Union.
